Celebrating St. Andrew’s Day: Showcasing Senior Architectural Systems’ Work in Scotland

Here at Senior Architectural Systems, we are extremely proud of the work we have done in Scotland. In our latest blog inspired by St. Andrew’s Day, we’re taking a trip north of the border to look at the projects, products, and people that have helped us support our architectural customers and supply partners in Scotland.

Local Support

To better support our customers who are working on projects across Scotland, we opened a dedicated distribution centre in Livingston, West Lothian, back in 1993. Working in collaboration with our teams at our main manufacturing facility in South Yorkshire, our Livingston branch has helped deliver our aluminium windows, doors, and curtain walling systems to sites from the Borders to the Highland via the Hebrides, Orkney and the Shetland Isles. We have also completed numerous contracts in both Edinburgh and Glasgow, but wherever our customers’ projects are, we have a regionally based team there to support them. In addition to our distribution team, our dedicated Architectural Advisor is on hand to assist the architects and main contractors we work with across Scotland, along with a locally based Technical Sales Manager who works closely with our installer and fabricator partners.

Our Work in Scotland

We are proud to have supplied our aluminium fenestration solutions to numerous new build and regeneration projects across Scotland. Our portfolio includes work in the education and student accommodation sector, as well as residential and mixed-use schemes, plus some more bespoke applications including a whisky distillery and a museum for Glasgow football team Rangers FC!

Here are just a few of our recently completed contracts from across the sectors.

Creating Comfortable Living Spaces in the Residential Sector

Our work in the residential sector in Scotland includes affordable housing and housing association schemes, as well as student accommodation developments. Most recently, we supplied our SPW501 anti-finger trap aluminium commercial doors, SPW600 automatic opening vent aluminium windows, and our SF52 aluminium curtain wall system for a new residential scheme located on the site of Glasgow’s famous Meat Market. Other notable schemes across the city that feature our aluminium fenestration solutions include the True Glasgow student accommodation building.

Delivering Inspirational Learning Environments for Education Contracts

Our work across Scotland’s education sector includes primary schools and higher education providers, and we have completed various projects for the University of Stirling. These contracts include supplying our aluminium windows, doors, and curtain walling for the University’s landmark Campus Central project, a striking sports centre, and the INTO Centre for its international student community.

Our work in the education sector has also seen us provide aluminium fenestration solutions to a number of primary schools where energy efficiency was a key requirement. Our patented PURe® aluminium windows feature in the new Hilltop Primary School in North Lanarkshire, which consolidates two former schools into one modern and efficient building. We also played a key role in delivering the aluminium fenestration package for the new shared campus of St. Edwards and Tollbrae primary schools.

Supporting Our Customers

We understand the specific requirements of working in Scotland and can help our customers navigate the different standards, regulations, and legislation that are in place. Our extensive range of thermally efficient aluminium doors, windows, and curtain wall systems are well suited to meet stricter U-value targets, which will be essential as Scotland moves towards implementing its own Passivhaus equivalent policy.

Our state-of-the-art powder coating facility also allows us to handle all requirements in-house, so whether our customers are working on an exposed coastal site or in a built-up urban area, our fenestration systems can be prepared to withstand the often unpredictable Scottish weather.

If you would like to discover more about how we can assist you on projects across Scotland, please contact our friendly team directly.

In the meantime, happy St. Andrew’s Day to all our colleagues, customers, and supply chain partners in Scotland. Latha fèill Anndrais sona dhuibh!
