Soho Yard, West Bar, Sheffield

We supplied the full aluminium fenestration package to the new Soho Yard residential development which forms part of the major West Bar regeneration scheme in Sheffield.

The new build-to-rent development has been delivered by main contractor Bowmer and Kirkland for Legal & General and comprises 368 high-quality apartments across two buildings. Designed by 5plus architects, the scheme brings together contemporary urban design with references to the site's industrial heritage, arranged around landscaped gardens to create a vibrant residential community in the city centre. The development takes its name from the ‘Soho Wheel’ that once powered the cutlery grinding machines in the local area.

To meet the project's aesthetic and performance goals, our thermally efficient PURe^® aluminium windows and doors were fabricated and installed throughout by HKL Specialists Ltd. Our patented PURe^® tilt and turn aluminium window system combines clean sightlines, high thermal performance and ease of maintenance, making it ideally suited to the demands of multi-occupancy residential buildings. Our robust PURe^® aluminium commercial doors were also used at key access points, offering durability, security and design consistency with the window package.

In addition, our SF52 aluminium curtain wall system was used to deliver the striking glazed elevations that maximise natural light and reinforce the architectural intent of the scheme. The system’s slim sightlines and strong structural performance allow it to integrate perfectly with the low U-value PURe^® range, ensuring an efficient installation process and a seamless façade design.

Chosen for our whole-package capability, our teams worked closely with the main contractor, architect and specialist installer throughout the design and build phases, providing technical support with low U-value targets and Part L compliance.
