David Lloyd Leisure Centres are known for the quality of their facilities. So, it’s no surprise that when it came to designing their 100th leisure centre at Emmerson Green, Senior Architectural Systems was chosen to supply the high-quality fenestration package.
This new flagship facility spanning 2.3 hectares was completed in just 43 weeks and features four tennis courts (three inside an eco-friendly tent structure and one outside), a multi-use court space, spa, sauna, four swimming pools and a gym covering the entirety of the building’s first floor. There are also two children’s playrooms, a restaurant and bar, indoor and outdoor play frames plus workstations with standing desks and a business lounge.
Senior’s slimline high performance SF52 curtain walling was used to create the centre’s stunning façade, flooding the interior with natural light and providing additional interest for those working out in the gym or swimming laps. The system’s flexibility enabled larger spans of glazing to be created, whilst the enhanced thermal-efficiency and high weather performance of the SF52 aluminium curtain walling ensures a comfortable environment throughout.
The centre’s impressive entrance was created using PURe® Commercial Doors, Senior’s largest and strongest aluminium doors to date. Able to achieve U-Values as low as 0.94 W/m2 K (when calculated as a CEN Standard door) they provide a secure and efficient solution for medium and high traffic areas.
The fenestration package also included Senior’s automatic SD aluminium doors and versatile SPW501 systems for internal and additional external access points.
Completed in November 2019, the new leisure facility has created 80 new jobs for the area and also provides a high-quality multi-purpose environment where members can exercise, socialise, dine and work.
