The Nest is a new community sports facility set in a green and leafy secure 22-acre site in Horsford near Norwich International Airport.
Funded by the Community Sports Foundation, the official charity partner of Norwich City football club, the new sports hub will expand the charity’s current facilities to help improve the health and well-being of local residents of all ages and abilities through sport. It is hoped that The Nest will help drive inclusion for people with disabilities, boost mental health and wellbeing, and support disadvantaged people to raise their aspirations.
The new purpose-built sports amenity includes an impressive refurbished clubhouse with changing and locker rooms, a physio room, event meeting and conference spaces plus a café with commercial catering facilities and an IT suite. Senior’s aluminium fenestration solutions have been used throughout the new building, including slimline SF52 aluminium curtain wall and SPW600 aluminium windows to give a light and airy feel. For inclusive access and security, a combination of SPW501 aluminium commercial doors and SD automatic sliding doors were installed.
Outside there is a new floodlit 3G pitch with spectator seating, 7 further high-quality grass football pitches and 5 residential bunk boxes, which again feature Senior’s energy efficient aluminium windows and extra wide doors for disabled access.
Named after Norwich City’s first football ground, which was the home to the Canaries between 1908 and 1935, it is estimated that The Nest will benefit over 12,000 members of the local community.
