Senior’s big year!

From winning the prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise to extending our manufacturing facilities, it’s been a momentous year for everyone here at Senior Architectural Systems – here are just a few of our 2023 highlights!

Flying the flag for UK fenestration

One of the biggest highlights of the last twelve months has also been one of the proudest moments in Senior’s 32 year history and we were thrilled to be awarded the King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation back in April 2023. The prestigious accolade was in recognition of our market-leading PURe® aluminium window and doors system. Set against a backdrop of tighter energy-efficiency targets and new requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations, winning the King’s Award has helped further differentiate our innovative PURe® system from other solutions on the market to give specifiers a clearer route to compliance.

The patented design of the PURe® system utilises a highly effective expanded polyurethane foam thermal barrier to achieve some of the lowest U-values available. The range was first developed back in 2015 and has subsequently grown to include a variety of door and window styles, and earlier this year we launched a new PURe® residential front door option. This great new product has been developed in collaboration with our supply chain partner Hallmark Doors and Panels Ltd.

Investing in progress

The patented, and award-winning, PURe® system may be Senior’s most famous invention, but it’s by no means our only Part L compliant solution, and over the last year we have invested heavily in our UK based manufacturing facilities to increase capacity and better meet demand. The most significant development is the opening of our new Thermal Improvement Facility in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The site was established in late 2022 and over the last year, has significantly helped increase production – reducing lead times across our complete range of low U-value aluminium windows and doors.

Big plans for the future

With all eyes now on the Future Homes Standard and the challenges of reducing both the embodied and operational carbon of construction projects even further, our commitment to sustainability and innovation shows no signs of slowing down. As well as the investment in its new manufacturing facility and its use of low carbon aluminium in all our products (look out for some with exciting updates on this in the New Year!), we are also gearing up to launch two new window and door options. Watch this space!

Wishing all our customers and colleagues a very happy festive break – see you next year!
