Specialist contractor WD Group has played a pivotal role in the transformation of six residential tower blocks across Birmingham and Wolverhampton, supplying and installing a range of aluminium fenestration solutions from Senior Architectural Systems.
In Birmingham’s Ladywood district, currently undergoing one of the city’s most ambitious redevelopment programmes, WD Group was appointed to deliver the full window replacement package at the 20-storey Salisbury and Canterbury Towers. Working closely with architects AHP Associates and regeneration specialists Equans, WD Group installed Senior’s thermally-efficient SPW600 aluminium windows, including automatic opening vents (AOVs) for individual dwellings and fixed light options for high-level communal areas to enhance both safety and comfort.
Building on the success of this collaboration, WD Group was also selected to install the fenestration systems at Bradfield House and Greenfield House, two six-storey blocks forming part of the Mapledene Road Estate in Sheldon. Originally built in the 1950s, both buildings have undergone extensive refurbishment led by MDA (Mike Daubney Associates). WD Group delivered a full installation of Senior’s SPW600 AOV windows and SF52 aluminium curtain walling, helping to improve energy performance and increase natural light throughout the schemes.

WD Group’s expertise was further called upon in Wolverhampton, where the company completed two major contracts as part of the Heath Town regeneration programme. At the 23-storey Brockfield Tower, WD Group installed a comprehensive fenestration package including Senior’s patented low U-value PURe® aluminium windows, SPW600 AOV windows, SF52 curtain walling, and Ali FOLD bi-folding doors. The tower’s extensive balconies were also upgraded with powder-coated aluminium copings, contributing to both aesthetic appeal and long-term durability. The project team included Jacobs architects and property service provider United Living.
Following the successful delivery of Brockfield Tower, WD Group was reappointed for the second phase of the Heath Town programme at Tremont House. Here, the team once again installed Senior’s PURe® aluminium windows, SPW600 AOVs, and SF52 curtain walling, continuing its commitment to quality, compliance, and resident wellbeing.
