Treglown Court

Awarded the highest UK BREEAM rating of ‘Outstanding’ in 2009, the new Cardiff offices of Stride Treglown Architects has since invested £60,000 in photovoltaics to become Carbon Neutral. It is now believed to be one of the first privately funded offices in the UK to do so.

The building has been designed in aninspiring wedge shape to accommodate over 50 staff on two floors in an open plan studio arrangement linked by an open plan staircase. Using Senior’s Hybrid Series 3 Curtain Wall system, energy efficiency is aided by the adoption of a natural ventilation strategy using BMS actuated Hybrid windows in the walls and roof, providing fresh air during the day and cooling at night.

Jane Davidson, Welsh Assembly Minister for the Environment, Sustainability and Housing supported the investment in sustainability saying “This building is exciting in that it shows the direction we are travelling. It is energy efficient, uses natural ventilation and re-uses water. In other words, it is sustainable and represents the future of new buildings across Wales.”
