Senior Fronts a Modern Concept in Student Living

London Court ApartmentsThe thermally enhanced SCW+ curtain wall from glazing systems designer and supplier Senior Architectural Systems, was chosen to give a stunning façade to a new development of student accommodation on London Road in Sheffield.

Fabricated and installed by Danum Windows of Doncaster, the SCW+ curtain wall performs just as superbly as it looks, with impressively low U values and excellent acoustic credentials. Keeping the heat in and the noise out, the SCW+ curtain wall is an ideal choice for reducing energy costs and noise pollution from the busy London Road.

To minimise build time, the SCW+ curtain wall was fabricated into ladders for quick assembly on site and a variety of glazing types in various colours was chosen to enhance the design. The SCW+ curtain wall is a semi unitised, zone drained and pressure equalized system offering a slim 50mm sightline, with a choice of 3 mullion and 4 transom depths for added flexibility.

London Court apartments, developed by Nobel Design and Build are the very essence of modern student accommodation. Featuring a sleek sweeping design, London Court is built over 6 floors and comprises 90 individual units split over 5 floors with 3 different room types on each floor.

There’s also a basement for secure bicycle storage and laundry facilities, whilst the ground floor boasts a very large common room with pool table, a games and cinema room and an air-conditioned gymnasium. In fact everything that today’s students expect and more including complete disabled access between all floors, via a standard and platform lift at ground level, allowing for full manoeuvrability throughout the building.

London Court is within walking distance of Sheffield City Centre, the railway station and both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam. Just as important for student life, the apartments are only minutes from Ecclesall Road famous for its selection of bars, shops and restaurants.
