The final touches have been made to the UK Pavilion at Milan Expo ahead of the Opening Ceremony on 1st May. New images by Hufton + Crow have just been released and show how sculptor Wolfgang Buttress’ vision has been turned into a stunning reality by Manchester based architectural practice BDP, Creative construction company Stage One from York and structural engineer Tristan Simmonds.

Senior Architectural System’s Hybrid timber composite windows were chosen by BDP for the UK Pavilion to represent the very best of British design and can be seen in the conference & VIP suite, offices and kitchen area.

Millions of visitors are expected at Milan Expo which runs until the end of October. The chosen theme for the Expo is “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.

The UK Pavilion features a fruit orchard and natural wildflower meadow leading to a 14m³ aluminium lattice hive sphere based on the design of a honeycomb, and showcases the crucial role of pollination in the global ecosystem.

Senior’s Hybrid windows complement the giant Hive perfectly, having aluminium externally, whilst framing the view of the orchard and wildflower meadow in a natural way with engineered spruce internally.

We’ll be updating the website with more photographs and news throughout Milan Expo, so check back regularly for the very latest information.
