Senior Architectural Systems partners with Retrofit 24

We are thrilled to announce Senior Architectural Systems is an official partner of Retrofit 24 – an exhibition led programme hosted at the Building Centre in London.

The exhibition will run from March 20th to August 30th 2024 and during this time, visitors will be able to take a closer look at some of the solutions available to help decarbonise the UK’s existing commercial buildings, including our own range of thermally-efficient aluminium windows, doors and curtain wall systems. Product samples will be available to view throughout the exhibition, as well as details of one of our most complex retrofit contacts – the Royal Arsenal Riverside development in South East London.

Through a combination of exhibitions, talks and other collaborative events, the Retrofit 24 event aims to highlight the key considerations, challenges and benefits of delivering commercial retrofit projects. Described as focusing on ‘the reuse agenda for our commercial, cultural and civic buildings’, the event is being delivered by the Built Environment Trust, the independent charity behind the Building Centre. Located in the centre of London, the venue provides a collaborative meeting space for architects, designers, product manufacturers and members of the public.

Commenting on the Retrofit 24 exhibition, the Building Centre’s commercial director John Bonning said:

The Building Centre’s purpose is to bring together experts, leaders and problem solvers from right across the built environment sector to share, learn and encourage each other. The fight to decarbonise and optimise the assets we have needs the attention of the best and the brightest in our industry. We’re bringing them together in a series of events open to all, centred on our exhibition which will run through to the end of the summer.”

Our showcase project at the exhibition is the appropriately named Royal Arsenal Riverside development, which is located on the former site of what was once the home to some of the largest munition factories in the UK. The scheme comprises a mix of new build residential, retail, and commercial elements alongside the sympathetic refurbishment of several listed buildings. Our slim line SF52 curtain wall system and low maintenance SPW600 aluminium windows were installed throughout the development, with the curtain walling screens incorporating feature curved heads along the spine of the building to pay homage to the scheme’s industrial heritage.

Senior is also the founder of the #Alumnium Day industry-wide social media event which takes place every year on March 13th to help raise awareness of the innovation and success within the aluminium industry.
