Materials

Quality is important. That’s why you’ll find only the highest quality materials at Senior.

Complying with all current building standards, we carry out rigorous quality control testing, to make sure all our systems give maximum performance and have an extended life cycle.

But more than that, we believe that materials should be sourced responsibly from reputable suppliers, with environmental impact a key consideration.

Wherever possible we source locally, reducing transport miles and supporting our local communities. We choose materials that can be easily recycled and are constantly innovating, using new materials to enhance thermal efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

Strong, lightweight and almost 100% recyclable

Over half of all our extruded aluminium is supplied from UK extruders which keeps transport emissions to a minimum.

Where possible, profiles are extruded from recycled aluminium which saves 95% of the original energy used to produce aluminium.

All aluminium sections are extruded using aluminium alloy 6060 or 6063 T6 to BS EN 755 part 9 2008

Heat where you want it

With sustainability becoming increasingly important, we offer a range of aluminium systems which contain a thermal barrier to prevent heat being lost through the frame. As well as the industry standard polyamide thermal break for windows and doors, we have also developed our own patented polyurethane (PUR) thermal break for even better thermal efficiency. Further thermal enhancement is also available for selected systems.

Polyurethane (PUR)

Developed by our R&D department, this innovative thermal barrier is manufactured from expanded high insulation polyurethane foam. Now with an exclusive UK patent, it is only available with our PURe® range of windows and doors which boast some of the lowest U values around, thanks to its exceptional thermal efficiency.

Polyamide

Many of our aluminium profiles are insulated using a polyamide strip, which provides a thermal break between the inside and outside of the frame and allows dual colour profiles to be easily manufactured.

PVC

PVC has become a traditional thermal break for curtain walling systems because of its low thermal conductivity.

Our curtain walling systems are thermally broken using a PVC isolator that separates the back box from pressure plate. The SCW system has the option of a plastic pressure plate or a thermal isolator for thermal breaking purposes.

Further Thermal Enhancement

For even greater thermal efficiency, thermal enhancement fillers and additional gasketry are available for most of our window and door systems, so that they can exceed the latest Approved Document L Building Regulations.
