The Extra Care Charitable Trust has recently completed its latest scheme to provide 180 one and two bedroom apartments in Newtown, Birmingham. This development provides a wonderful environment for supportive living to the over 55’s irrespective of their care needs.

Approximately a third of residents will need help with their care, including dementia, whilst residents without current care needs are also very welcome. Every home has been developed for wheel chair access and is connected with “pull cords” to the Care Team, to ensure the on-going wellbeing of the community.

The village provides individual living accommodation, but also has community based health and leisure facilities including a reception area, with Main Street, giving residents on site hairdressing, beauty salons, restaurant, village hall, village shop, fitness gym, IT Suite, Library, greenhouse, woodwork room and cafe bar.

Senior Architectural Systems were chosen as the preferred manufacturer for all the aluminium windows and doors throughout the complex, as the diverse product range from shop front systems used in the main atrium and communal areas through to Secure by Design windows and doors for the individual accommodation including balcony doors, provided a one stop shop for the main contractor, easing site programming.
