De Warenne Academy

Situated close to Conisborough Castle in a beautiful rural conservation area, the design for the new £10M De Warenne Academy by CPMG Architects in consultation with English Heritage had to ensure that the building was in keeping with the surrounding environment.

Balancing an element of refurbishment with a significant new build, Senior’s aluminium systems were chosen to give the school a clean modern appearance with stunning views over the Don Valley.

Thermally enhanced SMR800 and SCW+ curtain walling systems were installed by commercial glazing contractor Dortech, along with SPW500 shopfront, SPW600 window systems and SD doors.

A key requirement was for the Academy to be completed quickly without disruption to teaching provision for its 750 students. Holding over £3M of stock at any one time, Senior were able to guarantee short lead times and swift delivery of its fenestration systems.

This helped main contractors, Wates, to deliver the completed 6,646m2 rebuild just 52 weeks after the start of the build programme, using their streamlined Adapt Schools Solutions design approach.

This is the second of three schools in Doncaster to benefit from a major overhaul of its facilities. Campsmount Technology College, Doncaster and Outwood Academy, Adwick also used Senior’s robust, thermally efficient fenestration products to provide durable fenestration in a busy school environment.
