Glazing systems designer and manufacturer Senior Architectural Systems remains at the forefront of industry developments, with one of its technical services managers becoming a BIM Accredited Professional ahead of the system’s mandatory public sector introduction.
The accreditation, achieved by Senior employee Paul Evans, was awarded by the Building Research Establishment following completion of a two-day course which covered the fundamentals of BIM (Building Information Modelling).
BIM is a multi-dimensional tool which involves generating and managing the visual model of a building while also managing data about it from the concept stage, throughout construction and beyond.
Paul was given a comprehensive overview of BIM, along with advice about the process and project management together with information about data formats and data sharing. A session was also held covering the topic of collaboration and compliance.
Completion of the course ensures Senior understands its role in BIM as a key supplier and is prepared for changes when the process becomes mandatory across all publicly procured buildings and infrastructure projects in 2016.
Paul said: “Senior will now be able to work in partnership with clients to utilise BIM and keep building costs low by pre-empting errors and ironing out potential issues before they arise. My knowledge is being passed on within the company, ensuring we can all use the system to achieve robust efficiencies for clients across the board.”
