Senior’s Systems Excel at Doncaster Youth Centres

Senior’s aluminium fenestration systems have been installed at two state-of-the art ‘Myplace’ youth and community centres in Doncaster. Funded by the BIG Lottery, the Doncaster Myplace Development includes the Park Lodge Centre near the town centre and the Tom Hill Youth Club in nearby Conisbrough serving the Conisbrough and Denaby communities.

GE4C3048 - Bentley Myplace - DN5 0HUCommissioned by Doncaster Metropolitan Council to replace an existing community centre, the £5 Million contract was awarded to main contractor Wildgoose Construction.

Senior’s thermally efficient SPW600e Windows and SCW+ Curtain Wall were chosen to give the buildings a contemporary look and feel whilst maximising the energy efficiency of the building. Fabricated and installed by Alusec together with Senior’s SPW500 and SD automated commercial doors, thoughtful specification of fenestration enabled the two buildings to achieve an “Excellent” BREEAM rating.

Both projects were completed within 40 weeks and the two Centres are now full of exciting activities and services for young people living in and around Doncaster.

The three storey Park Lodge centre focuses on learning, school groups, sport and dance. It features a dance/drama/music studio, sports hall, classrooms, cafe plus office and meeting rooms for local community groups as well as allotments and outdoor social space.

GE4C3027 - Bentley Myplace - DN5 0HUThe two storey Tom Hill Youth Club offers a range of music and sporting facilities including boxing and boasts a fully equipped gym with sauna, a multi-use games area, a modern multi-media room, a dance studio, café and a clinic for young people to receive advice.

Both Centres offer Duke of Edinburgh awards and include an arts hub.

The aim of the nationwide network of Myplace community centres is to provide young people in disadvantaged communities with the help and support they need to develop their skills and capabilities to make the most of their potential and become responsible members of their communities.
