Glazing systems designer and manufacturer Senior Glass Systems is celebrating after winning the prestigious Medium Business award at the Scarborough News Business Awards.

Senior, which has a base near Eastfield in North Yorkshire, won the accolade after transforming a struggling business into a robust glass production facility, rescuing dozens of jobs in the local area. Representatives from Senior were handed their award at The Spa in Scarborough during a ceremony compered by BBC Look North’s Clare Frisby.

Since it bought the assets of a domestic double glazing firm from an administrator in 2009, Senior’s glass production facility has helped to increase the business’ monthly turnover by an impressive 66%. At the 40,000 square feet facility, Senior produces high quality glazed units for a national market. The company is part of the Senior Architectural Systems group, which designs and manufactures aluminium window, door and curtain wall systems for clients across the UK.

Michelle Damms, operations director at Senior Glass Systems, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised for our input into the local area’s economy and to have been acknowledged for our hard work in turning the business around. We are confident we will continue in this way, and look forward to many more successes at Senior.”
