Sports Centre, York

Designed to provide exceptional energy efficiency, Senior’s SF52 aluminium curtain walling system was the ideal choice to provide a comfortable environment for students working out at York St. John University’s new state of the art sports centre.

To further ensure a pleasant interior environment and reduce the reliance on mechanical heating and cooling systems, Senior’s thermally broken SPW600e aluminium windows and SPW501 aluminium doors were also installed.

In addition, the attractive slim sightlines of Senior’s SF52 curtain walling has helped to maximise the sense of light and space and has been used to create a welcoming entrance to the new two-storey building.

The new sports centre, which is part of York St John University’s School of Sport, comprises an indoor sports court, gym facilities, changing room and creative learning spaces for students. It is the second phase of the University and Watson Batty’s redevelopment of the Nestle Rowntree playing fields which feature a new 3G pitch for rugby and football as well as tennis and netball courts.
