Entrance Doors: Hybrid Series 1 Inward Opening
The Hybrid Door is an 83mm high performance door system that achieves very high thermal insulation values providing low U Values well below the current and anticipated future Building Regulation requirements.
Comprising the insulating benefits of timber on the inside and the durability of aluminium on the outside, the system includes inward and outward opening doors.
A full range of door hardware is available, including butt hinges and a multi-point locking for added security.
Glazing
Double glazing is standard and should be carried out to the recommendations of BS6262. A variety of glass options are available to maximise thermal and acoustic performance. The glazing is inserted between the aluminium and timber frames for maximum security.
Site Installation
Site fixing of finished frames should take into account all applicable standards with regard to both the method employed and safe working practices.
Frame fixings should be suitable for the purpose given site conditions, live loads and materials into which the installation is to be made. If in doubt, please check with your fixings supplier regarding type and method to be used.
Testing
The Hybrid Inward Opening Door has been tested in accordance with BS6375 Part 1: 2004 (performance of windows and doors – classification of weathertightness and guidance on selection and specification).
Test reports are available from all Service Centres.
Size Capabilities
Size limitations for each type of door vary. The following schedule is an indication of the HYBRID system capabilities:
Inward Opening
Single Door: 900W x 2100H
Double Door: 1800W x 2100H
Multi-lights: all mullions and transoms over 1200mm high or wide should be checked for Ixx value stability to loadings provided by the specifier, or to BS6399 part 2:1997 The above schedule is based on nominal test results and assumes that adequate care regarding the location and exposure of the window is taken by the fabricator.
Please refer to manual for hardware limitations.
Thermal Performance
Thermal performance of our systems depend on too many variables to determine a simple statement. Varying standards of insulated glazing units, profile selection, product size and mullion spacing combine to provide a unique ‘U’ value per window, door or curtain wall facade. At Senior Architectural Systems we use the most up to date designs and materials in order to offer the highest performance systems and products on offer in the UK. To determine the thermal performance of a specific proposed installation please consult your chosen supplier or Senior Architectural Systems who would be pleased to undertake a specific calculation. By varying glazing specifications and system/profile selection, high insulation, specific overall ‘U’ values required can be achieved.
Materials
Extruded aluminium is Aluminium Alloy 6063.T6 to BS EN 755 part9: 2001
Anodizing: i) Natural (Silver) anodised to BS3897, 1991. and ii) Anolok Bronze Colour 547 anodised to BS3897, 1991. Anodising is to a minimum of 25 microns (AA25).
Powder coating is to BS EN 12206: 2004 Part 1.
Gasketry is manufactured in accordance with BS3734 and BS7412, cat A.
Timber is certified by MPA Stuttgart with quality class BS 11, laminated according to DIN 1052 melamine glue, weather-proof and heat proof, humidity 12% +/- 2%, only lamellaes in principle free of knots are laminated.
Finishes
The external aluminium is available in anodised or powder coat. The internal timber is available in clear lacquered or water based paint.
Construction
SCW Curtain Wall framing is constructed using mechanical methods at butt joints.
Assembly uses stainless steel self-tapping screws into integral screw ports extruded into the body of the sections, directly through square cut adjoining component parts. A proprietary sealant to protect against water entry should always be used on all metal-to-metal and gaskets to gaskets joints during assembly.
Vertical sections are designed to run through which enables individual panels to be made separately and ease the problems associated with handling or transporting large, or multi panel, frames when fully assembled.
Optional shear blocks are available for joint and sectional re-inforcing or expansion joints and larger spans, over 1200mm.
Glazing options include single glazing 6.0mm or 10.0mm(using adaptors) and Double-glazing 28mm.
At all times good working practices should be employed.
Fabrication
Senior Architectural Systems SCW Curtain Wall systems are designed to facilitate assembly with a minimum of equipment. It is however advisable that a positive approach be made to available machinery, and it’s use, to ensure good quality of finished work with any aluminium product.
