Systems
Windows: STW200
STW200 Window Wall is a low rise window and window wall system. The system is thermally broken and is available in the basic window profile measuring 44mm or for direct fixing, 75mm and 100mm frames are available.
The 44mm sections can be used in conjunction with the SCW, SCW+, SMR800 and the SMR900 Curtain Wall systems.
The 75mm Sections are compatible with the REALE residential door.
The 100mm Sections are compatible with the SD Commercial Doors.
Both 75mm and 100mm Sub-frames are channel and plate construction allowing it to be fabricated into ladders for quicker assembly on site.
A full range of window hardware is available, including cockspur handles, friction stays, folding cam openers and espagnolette locking for added security.
Glazing
Glazing from 4mm single glazing to 28mm double glazed can be used in the STW200 system.
Each pane of glass is individually inserted into a fully rebated and prepared opening. Glazing beads with an internal option is possible. Gasket seals to the inside create a bond between the glass and the main framing members.
Site Installation
Site fixing of finished frames should take into account all applicable standards with regard to both the method employed and safe working practices.
Frame fixings should be suitable for the purpose given site conditions and materials into which the installation is to be made. If in doubt, please check with your fixings supplier regarding type and method to be used.
Testing
STW200 Series has been independently tested to BS6375 and has achieved the following results:-
| Air Permeability | 600Pa |
| Water Tightness | 600Pa |
| Wind Resistance | 2000Pa |
The STW200 series has also been tested to BS7950 for security.
Test reports for individual window configurations are available on request.
Separate figures are available for Thermal U-values depending on type of frame and glazing material.
Thermal Performance
Thermal performance of our systems depend on too many variables to determine a simple statement. Varying standards of insulated glazing units, profile selection, product size and mullion spacing combine to provide a unique 'U' value per window, door of curtain wall facade. At Senior Architectural Systems we use the most up to date designs and materials in order to offer the highest performance systems and products on offer in the UK. To determine the thermal performance of a specific proposed installation please consult your chosen supplier or Senior Architectural Systems who would be pleased to undertake a specific calculation. By varying glazing specifications and system/profile selection, high insulation, specific overall 'U' values required can be achieved.
Size limitations for each type of window vary. The following schedule is an indication of the STW200 system capabilities.
| W | X | H | |
| Top Hung O/Out | 1500 | X | 1500 |
| Side Hung O/Out | 900 | X | 1500 |
Materials
Extruded aluminium is Aluminium Alloy 6063.T6 to BS EN 755 part9: 2001
Anodising: i) Natural (Silver) anodised to BS3897, 1991. and ii) Anolok Bronze Colour 547 anodised to BS3897, 1991. Anodising is to a minimum of 25 microns (AA25).
Powder Coating is to BS6496, 1984. Gasketry is manufactured in accordance with BS3734 and BS7412, cat A.
Finishes
Aluminium profiles are normally supplied coated using the powder coat method. Powder coat is available in a wide range of standard colours and surface finishes. Bespoke colours can be provided but may be subject to extended delivery times. Aluminium can also be clear anodised in either satin or polished finish and a limited range of colours, which includes bronze and black, is also available.
Construction
The STW200 outer frames employ two methods of construction. A range of 44mm and 75mm outer frames are mitre cut and mechanically jointed as are the opening light inserts. Alternatively 75mm and 100mm sub-frame profiles are available, being butt jointed and fixed through screw ports. These frames enable individual sections to be constructed, with the vertical sections running through, for ease of site assembly.
A range of transom and mullion sections are available allowing economical selection when deeper outer frames are required. Transoms and mullions are butt jointed and fixed through screw ports. Brackets allow cruciform joints to be included.
A proprietary sealant to protect against water ingress should always be used on all metal to metal joints. External and internal double glazing up to 28mm as standard is available. The 100mm sub frame will allow panels of up to 63mm to be used in opaque areas.
At all times good working practices should employed.
Fabrication
Senior Architectural Systems STW200 Window Wall systems are designed to facilitate assembly with a minimum of equipment. It is however advisable that a positive approach be made to available machinery, and it's use, to ensure good quality of finished work with any aluminium product.
