Windows: SPW600

SPW600 - Touchstone Housing

SPW600 Windows comprises, Casements, Tilt and Turns and Top Swing Reversible Windows. It is also compatible with the SPW600 Entrance Doors.

The SPW600 system is a 75mm thermally broken using larger polyamide strips than the SPW300 giving even better thermal insulation.

It is also compatible with all the SCW, SCW+, SMR800 and the SMR900 Curtain Wall Systems. Available in single or dual colour finish.

A full range of window hardware is available, including cockspur handles, friction stays, folding cam openers, tilt and turn, overswing and espagnolette locking for added security.

Glazing

28mm double glazed can be used in the SPW600 system as standard, but other unit sizes up to 56mm are possible depending on weight.

Each pane of glass is individually inserted into a fully rebated and prepared opening. Glazing beads with an internal option standard on inward opening and an option on outward opening windows. Gasket seals to the inside create a bond between the glass and the main framing members.

Site Installation

Site fixing of finished frames should take into account all applicable standards with regard to both the method employed and safe working practices. Frame fixings should be suitable for the purpose given site conditions and materials into which the installation is to be made. If in doubt, please check with your fixings supplier regarding type and method to be used.

Testing

SPW600 Series has been independently tested to BS6375 and has achieved the following results:-

Air Permeability600Pa
Water Tightness600Pa
Wind Resistance2400Pa

The SPW600 series has also been tested to BS7950 for security.

Test reports for individual window configurations are available on request.

Separate figures are available for Thermal U-values depending on type of window configuration, frame and glazing material.

Thermal Performance

Thermal performance of our systems depend on too many variables to determine a simple statement. Varying standards of insulated glazing units, profile selection, product size and mullion spacing combine to provide a unique 'U' value per window, door of curtain wall facade. At Senior Architectural Systems we use the most up to date designs and materials in order to offer the highest performance systems and products on offer in the UK. To determine the thermal performance of a specific proposed installation please consult your chosen supplier or Senior Architectural Systems who would be pleased to undertake a specific calculation. By varying glazing specifications and system/profile selection, high insulation, specific overall 'U' values required can be achieved.

Size limitations for each type of window vary. The following schedule is an indication of the SPW600 system capabilities.

Materials

Extruded aluminium is Aluminium Alloy 6063.T6 to BS EN 755 part9: 2001

Polyamide thermal barriers PA66 GF25

Anodising: i) Natural (Silver) anodised to BS3897, 1991. and ii) Anolok Bronze Colour 547 anodised to BS3897, 1991. Anodising is to a minimum of 25 microns (AA25).

Powder Coating is to BS6496, 1984.

Gasketry is manufactured in accordance with BS3734 and BS7412, cat A.

Finishes

Aluminium profiles are normally supplied coated using the powder coat method. Powder coat is available in a wide range of standard colours and surface finishes. Bespoke colours can be provided but may be subject to extended delivery times. Aluminium can also be clear anodised in either satin or polished finish and a limited range of colours, which includes bronze and black, is also available.

Construction

SPW600 Casement Windows are constructed using mitred and mechanically crimped corners, with support chevrons and cleats. Integral transoms and mullions are installed by scribing the ends and then either screw fixing or bracket fixing into the outer frames.

A proprietary sealant to protect against water entry should be used on all metal-to-metal joints and cleat insertion points at assembly.

Opening Window Frames are designed to be inserted directly into the outer frames using butt hinges or friction stays.

Fabrication

Senior Architectural Systems SPW600 Window systems are designed to facilitate assembly with a minimum of equipment. It is however advisable that a positive approach be made to available machinery, and it's use, to ensure good quality of finished work with any aluminium product.
